Debated on whether to even go out this particular evening, as it looked like storms were headed in. It rained for a bit, so we returned to our cabin at Signal Mountain Lodge for a bite to eat, and we decided we didn't want to be cooped up all night long, so off we went to Oxbow Bend which is usually a good spot for sunsets (or sunrises). When we arrived, the winds were strong, the river was choppy, and the sky looked like it could open up any minute. Just when I was about ready to throw in the towel for the night, the winds calmed, the clouds started to break, and we were treated to this lovely display of light and dramatic clouds.

I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good.
