Artist's Description

Headed out a little later than usual early one September morning and debated on whether to even go to this location. I said, "what the heck, let's go, at least we can get some steps in walking around the lake." As we were about half way around the lake, a young bull moose appeared from the forest on the other side and headed straight into the lake, walking towards us. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, my husband said, "is that another moose standing in the lake?" I checked, and sure enough, it was a cow and calf, so we parked again and watched them for about a half hour before they headed off into the forest. I heard later from several photographer friends in the area that they went to the same lake about 45 minutes earlier than us and never saw anything. Just goes to prove it's all about being in the right place at the right time.

About Darlene Bushue

Darlene Bushue

That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good. And a reminder for all, "Life is...
