In the Trees 2 Baby Onesie

Walking along early one October morning, photographing the last of the autumn colors in the early morning light, and off to my right, I hear the unmistakable sound of antlers clashing in the trees. I slowly walk backwards, looking into the trees for what I know are at least two bull moose, and this beautiful bull was standing there, perfectly still, watching me. The other bull walked off into a thick stand of trees before I could capture him.

I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good.
