Headed into the park on Friday the 13th (September 2019) to see what was going on with the elk rut.. It was a bit early in the evening and not much happening, so we headed out to one of our favorite lakes and were greeted by this guy right along the bank. He was quite handsome in the evening light. The lake was also host to two cow moose and their calves and a bull elk bugling off in the distance as the sun set for the day. All in all, a great evening!
I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good.
